A Darker Shade of Magic is a movie[2][3][4] based on A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab. Gerard Butler's production company G-BASE have acquired the rights to adapt the book.[5]

ProductionEdit

On February 3, 2016, it was announced that Gerard Butler's production company G-BASE acquired the rights to adapt the Shades of Magic series as a limited TV series.[5] However, a year later, on February 24, 2017, it was announced that a movie would be produced instead.[2][4] If a TV series had been created, V.E. Schwab would have written the pilot with help from producer Danielle Robinson.[5] She is now one of the producers of the movie.[2]

There is the possibility that A Gathering of Shadows and A Conjuring of Light may be adapted as movies as well.[2][3]

TriviaEdit

  • A script for the movie was already written,[6] and V.E. Schwab stated that it is "magical."[7]
  • V.E. Schwab went out to Los Angeles to meet with producer Danielle Robinson to discuss the project. While in Los Angeles, Robinson gifted Schwab an antique map of London.[8]
